Course Policies

Attendance Policy: As an active member of this class, your attendance is vital. You need to be responsible for logging in several times per week to check on your progress in the class as well as finishing the required material by their due dates. Your weekly attendance is based on the completion of quizzes and other assignments indicated in the course room and in the schedule. The Federal Government has established a guideline to determine attendance for online students.

“Attendance must be measured by an assignment to be graded, quiz (test), or SCORM EVERY week.  Forums will not be accepted as graded assignments for Title IV purposes. Assignments turned in offline or through e-mail cannot be accepted for Title IV purposes.”

Therefore, your attendance will be based on fully completing all graded assignments, quizzes, or tests for that week. If not completed and submitted before 11:59 p.m. (Eastern Time) on Sunday each week, you will be counted absent for that week.

You are expected to check your HJC email several times a week to ensure you are receiving feedback from your instructor in time.

Make-up Policy:  Late quizzes, discussions, and projects are NOT accepted except for excused absences. You must communicate with the instructor regarding your situation, the instructor reserves the right to determine if an excused absence is granted for the situation.

Incomplete Policy: Incomplete Grades Incompletes are given when a student has to miss the final or has an outstanding assignment. The incomplete should only be given if the student is passing the class or would be able to pass the class with the completion of the missing exam/assignment. If the student does not contact the instructor about the missing assignment/exam, the instructor should award an incomplete if the student was actively attending until the end of class and the instructor has a reasonable belief that the student intends to make up. Online students who do not complete the proctored assignment but have completed all other assignments may be awarded an incomplete, allowing them to finish the required proctored assignment. If an incomplete is awarded, the student will have until the end of the next term to complete the missing work. Students receiving an incomplete should make arrangements with the instructor to complete the outstanding work as soon as possible. Should an incomplete remain unchanged past the following quarter, it will automatically change to a failing grade.
