The Associate in Addiction Recovery program prepares graduates to assist a licensed counselor in in a variety of roles and settings. The program introduces students to the knowledge, skills, ethics, and attitudes of addiction counseling. The program also provides an overview of substance abuse prevention and education programs.
Graduates of the Associate in Addiction Recovery Program will:
· Demonstrate knowledge, skills, and behavior required for employment in the addiction recovery field.
· Demonstrate knowledge of treatment planning based on a biopsychosocial assessment of an individual's strengths, weaknesses, problems, and needs.
· Demonstrate knowledge of cultural diversity in working with clients and families.
· Demonstrate knowledge of established professional codes of ethics in counseling.
· Engage in a civic engagement activity.
· Collaborate effectively with others.
· Communicate effectively.
· Think creatively.
· Reason critically.
